Blogging in an Arab country

I'm not trying to make excuses with this post about why it took me so long to get my BLOG started. I just want you to see what I'm dealing with when I get on the internet to post things.

As you see here, just about everything is in Arabic. It makes things difficult, but not impossible. Thanks to my wonderful wife we got it sorted out. She would be logged into her BLOG and describe to me over the phone what all the tabs said on each of the pages. I took notes and then fumbled through with trial and error. Basically everything is default settings because I have only ventured to learn the necessities of creating posts. Just in case you thought I chose the background with the pretty little birds flying, I didn't.

I will try to get at least one more post in the next two days. I am still months behind, but intend to keep bringing you all up to speed until the info is recent. I won't be making any posts for a few weeks. Look for more in April.

The Last of the Kuwait presentation

These next 4 slides are zone 3. We lived about equal distance between zones 1 and 3.

Even though I was at this camp an entire month I never ate at any of these places except the doughnut shop one morning because I missed Breakfast. Lucky for them not everyone is as stingy with their money as I am.

My friend/CHU (room) mate Brian on the left and friend/run buddy Ryan on the right. He is not very tall to begin with but this guy from Montana was huge.

Any Questions?

Kuwait continued

I'll continue with more slides from the product I built to give the main body intel on what to expect when they made it to Kuwait.

None of these places existed when I was here in 2005.

The cash card is a great idea for keeping spending under control. It is not credit. Cash has to be loaded on it to make purchases and it operates off a PIN number, so if it is lost or stolen the money is safe. There is also a limit to how much can be loaded in a day, so big purchases have to be planned and thought out. No large impulse buying. Great for the young soldiers.

EWO - Electronics Warfare Officer  uses signal jamming to prevent remote detonation of IEDs. The internet worked real good till everyone else showed up and slowed it way down.

I spent 1 month at this camp from 4 Nov to 4 Dec. Most of my unit was there less than a week. I received them all in then sent them all off.

Has anyone else ever seen a climbing wall treadmill. It was pretty amazing and en-genius I thought.

If you ever find yourself with more money than you know what to do with, the USO would be a great organization to make some donations to. This building was great for passing the time.

By the end of my stay, we had racked up over 300,000 fans and I was comfortable with just about any song on the medium level. That is a big deal to me because I don't play video games. My family never had a game system growing up and until August, I had never had one in my own home either. We got a Wii the week that I left for Mississippi. The last video games I got into was Pacman or PolePosition. Rock Band is a very fun and addicting game.
